My interest in tattoos goes way back when I used to look at people with tattoos (especially when traveling abroad). Those days tattoos were not that common and there were not many tattoo studios around. Also, the knowledge regarding the same was not there. I am talking 15 years back - when there was no Instagram’s of the world to refer to. Also, there was this misconception that to get tattoos you should have a muscular body - I was always with a slim build (still I am). So, my wife became the “guinea pig” and I convinced her to get tattoos - she got 5 of them.
Fast forward to September 2019 - I was traveling in
Thailand with my daughter and she wanted a tattoo of her dog who had passed
away. So, we found out a tattoo studio and got her tattooed. She forced me to
have a tattoo and that is how I got my first tattoo at the age of 53 (age is
just a number).
After that I decided to know more about the art and
the industry and started my research. I was very clear from the start as to
what I wanted inked on my body and the artists who would ink me.
As of today - my both the arms and whole back is
inked. I have officially become an “ink collector” - term that is used for
tattoo enthusiasts.
Today, I am a part of the Indian tattoo community and I visit all the tattoo conventions that happen in India. I also try and disperse knowledge related to tattoos through my Instagram.
