......A Luxe farmstay for a unique experience
Untold story behind ivybridge.farm by ROMESH SAPRA - Owner of this luxury farmstay which is away from the humdrum of the city life.
Throughout one’s life, we are busy with the rat race, running around with various stresses coming from all directions, seemingly at the same time. Being an Architect, running Sapras Architects & Engineers, this lifestyle is no stranger to me, for the longest time my way to unwind was to get my 2-wheeled beast and hit the road. Traversing miles and miles only to look back in the rear-view mirror, was my escape. As with fine wine, with the years my escape took a more refined turn, more towards unwinding in a rather less nomadic way. Thus, the addition of a vacation home, not too far from my home to my bucket list.
I started off with something rather ambitious, a Treehouse, but alas, I couldn’t pursue that much further as the horticulture practices rendered it futile. With very few trees or just those on the boundaries, none of the properties on sale gave me a solid base for the location of the treehouse. As for the next big thought, create my own jungle, after years of searching, in 2012, I found my blank canvas sitting on 1.5 acres, since then we have planted over 500 trees and an even greater number of plants, most of which were planted well before commencement of construction.
I wanted to create something simple yet different, hence the use of different materials for the various structures along with plants and trees creating natural barriers giving the area a multi-dimensional feel.
To satisfy my want for a treehouse, we nestled a rustic steel structure (barely visible today) in the middle of a bunch of trees. With ample grounds, we let our imagination run wild, adding luxury creature comforts took a step forward with a gym, pool, jacuzzi and even a steam room, not to mention having the power of making it rain whenever one wants.
At this stage, curating this space has latched itself onto my DNA, no matter where I am, whether out shopping, playing badminton or even simply driving from one place to another, my eyes are on the lookout for pieces or mementos, rare and/or beautiful to add even the slightest bit more character to the place. From Jharkhand to Germany and Bali to USA, art and design from all over comes together as an beautifully curated amalgamation at Ivy.
Situated close to the major metropolitan cities, including Delhi and Gurugram, ivybridge.farm is the ideal gateway to a peaceful paradise. The breath-taking surroundings provide the much needed re-connect to mother nature.
