The Artistic Journey

LK takes inspiration from human forms, moods and emotions, without which he feels any work of art is incomplete. His canvases have a modern feel, while also possessing a classic true-to-life quality that evokes myriad sentiments in the viewer. LK likes to create art that people can identify with as art lovers and as serious collectors. The themes are unusual, yet instantly relatable.

The Aabhushan Series exquisitely brings out the ways in which women express their femininity—whether through ornamentation or simply through their grace and beauty. The series evokes Shringar Ras as much as a feeling of quiet dignity, by way of the simplicity of the model’s pose and ornamentation. LK shifts your focus away from traditional notions of what is considered visually beautiful, and instead draws your attention towards re-examining “woman-ness” through how women carry themselves. In this series, you will find women adorned with articles ranging from heavy jewellery to a humble bunch of flowers, from the simplest kaanch ki choodi to the traditional hansuli worn on the foot—and even a Punjabi paranda, playfully placed on a shoulder. Besides, you will observe women in a gamut of moods, from exuding coyness to displaying a fiery attitude, even as the breadth of LK’s work takes you from urban milieus to rural vistas. Each of these represents different aspects of femininity while influencing how we perceive the women of India.

The paintings in the Aabhushan Series have been admired by thousands on social media, and lovingly acquired by art aficionados from across India, and even in Singapore and the USA. They would surely make for a wonderful addition to any collection.
