Art Centrix Space proudly presents Ishq Chaman, an evocative revival of the Kishangarh School of Art, one of India’s most refined miniature painting traditions. Curated by Monica Jain, Founder-Director of Art Centrix Space, in collaboration with Princess Vaishnavi Kumari, Founder of Studio Kishangarh, this exhibition reimagines the timeless visual poetry of Kishangarh’s artistic heritage.
At the heart of this revival is the legacy of Nihal Chand, whose dreamlike compositions under Raja Savant Singh’s patronage transformed devotion into art. Ishq Chaman explores Kishangarh’s iconic floral motifs, intricate ornamentation, and profound symbolism—elements that continue to inspire contemporary artistic expression.
This exhibition bridges the past and present, preserving traditional techniques—Wasli paper, natural pigments, and intricate brushwork—while embracing contemporary innovations. Art Centrix Space, a leading contemporary gallery, remains committed to fostering this dialogue, ensuring that heritage remains a living, evolving tradition.
Beyond the gallery, Ishq Chaman offers immersive experiences, including a guided tour of Kishangarh’s historic marvels and a curated walkthrough on the opening night. Visitors will witness firsthand how Kishangarh’s miniatures transcend time, weaving poetry, painting, and devotion into a singular artistic vision.
A BFA graduate from the College of Art, New Delhi, and an MA in Art History from the National Museum Institute, Monica Jain has curated over 30 exhibitions, represented artists at the India Art Fair, and supported contemporary South Asian artistic practices. She has been a patron of the Kochi Biennale Foundation since 2018.
Founded in 2010, Studio Kishangarh revitalizes the exquisite tradition of Kishangarh miniature painting. Drawing from her family’s patronage of the arts, Princess Vaishnavi ensures this artistic heritage remains dynamic, integrating traditional techniques with modern interpretations and providing employment to local artisans.
Established in 2012, Art Centrix Space is a leading voice in contemporary Indian art. Over the past decade, it has curated more than 30 exhibitions, participated in prominent art fairs, and nurtured vernacular and regional voices. The gallery’s commitment extends beyond exhibitions, fostering artistic growth through grants and patronage.
Studio Kishangarh, housed within the historic Kishangarh Fort, preserves and reinterprets the Kishangarh miniature painting tradition. Merging classical aesthetics with contemporary innovation, it continues to celebrate the artistic splendor of Kishangarh, bringing this legacy to a global audience.
